Dendê Nation
Who we are
Influenced and inspired by the Blocos of Bahia in the North-East of Brazil, Dendê Nation’s founder and drumming leader, Mac, has worked tirelessly over the past 20 years studying, playing and conversing with Brazilian Masters, teachers and players of this art form to create Dendê Nation’s Samba Reggae sound. All grounded respectfully in the stirring and uplifting rhythms of Afro-Brazil.
Our drummers
Mac leads two groups of drummers - one based in London (Vauxhall) and one in Hastings. We always welcome new members so do come and join us if you're interested!
We play at events across London and the South East, as well as nationally - and Mac runs drumming workshops for both adults and children.
During our summer activities, we are also joined at Notting Hill Carnival by incredible dancers and musicians from across the UK and beyond, working alongside Gandaia Arts. Check out our Notting Hill Carnival and Photos and Videos pages to see us in action.
