We have been playing as part of Sunday’s Family Day parade at Notting Hill Carnival for many years. In 2025 we won the prize for Best Brazilian band.

At Notting Hill Carnival in 2025 our theme was ‘Roots of Community’. We won 1st place as best Brazilian band on Sunday’s parade.

Led by Dende Nation founder Mac and Music Coordinator Stella Lucien; and supported by Mariana Pinho and Gandaia Arts, we played alongside several incredible groups of dancers, led by Adriano Oliveira and Hawah Bunduka plus guest singers Bea Shantifa and Aleh Ferreira‍. ‍

Notting Hill Carnival 2024

At Notting Hill Carnival in 2024 our theme was ‘Abre Caminho’, which means ‘opening paths’. We were honoured to be joined for the second year in a row by maistro Marivaldo Paim, musical director of legendary bloco Ilê Aiyê, along with a wealth of collaborators, dancers and artists including guests singers Jel Negromont, Thalissa Texeria and Bea Shantifa, plus dance coordinators Nara Couto and Rosaria Gracia. Our sustainable upcycled costumes, made in collaboration with Sustenta Carnaval, made it into the news!

Notting Hill Carnival 2023

At Notting Hill Carnival in 2024 our theme was ‘Ebi Dende’. Ebi means family in Yoruba. We were thrilled to welcome the legendary Marivaldo Paim, musical director of Ilê Aiyê, as our guest musical director, along with so many incredible dancers, singers and artists including guests singers Leah Paim, Nadia Pimentel and Bea Shantifa, and dance coordinators Mariana Pinho and Rosaria Gracia.

At Notting Hill Carnival in 2022 the atmosphere was electric after no carnival for 2 years due to Covid. Our theme this year was ‘Love Thy Neighbour’ and featured stunning dance troupes coordinated by artists including Vero Leopoldino, Hawah Bunduka and Mariana Pinho, along with guests singer Bea Shantifa and Will Roper with his amazing brass section.
